Targeted Species

Offshore of Islamorada is also where the Stanczyks, owners of World Famous Bud n’ Mary’s Marina, cracked the code of daytime swordfishing. Daytime swordfishing was a pipedream a few years ago, you’d have to get lucky to catch one during the day. The Bud n’ Mary’s crew has it down to a science now.

Here in Islamorada you’ll find the perfect storm of fishing opportunities. The Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean, Florida Bay and Everglades National Park offer angling opportunities that you just can’t get anywhere else.

In Islamorada you can fish for pelagics offshore in the morning such as marlin, swordfish, sailfish, mahi mahi, tuna and wahoo in thousands of feet of water and then in the afternoon come inshore and fish for redfish, snook, tarpon, even bonefish and permit in literally inches of water. No day is the same, your angling prospects are endless here. You can even dive for lobsters and harvest stone crabs too!

Aside from the many fishing opportunities and species, something else that makes our fishing so unique is that there is no off-season, the fishing doesn’t ever drop off. While some species come and go with seasons, we still have almost year round fishing for a variety of species such as redfish, snook, tarpon, grouper, sailfish, blackdrum, tripletail, trout, tuna, mackerel and shark.

Even the species that can be more seasonal and present certain difficulties at times like permit or bonefish can still be found and caught, you just have to know where to look.
